Today on Qualitative Speaking:Show Empathy more than Sympathy.

Empathy is the intellectual identification of the thoughts, feelings, state of another person. The capacity to understand another person's point of view or the result of such understanding.
Sympathy is a feeling of pity or sorrow for the suffering or distress of another. The ability to share the feelings of another, a mutual relationship between people or things such that they are correspondingly affected by any condition.
Now empathy is the capacity to understand one's point of view or feeling because he/she must have had that feeling or is going through that feeling. Sympathy is just a show of concern to how someone feels at a particular point in time. Empathy entails identifying the feelings and emotions of a person and offering a positive help. Simply put empathy is sympathy with action.
For example when a woman loses her husband, a lot of people come to her and cry and afterwards go back to their homes, now this is sympathy. But a person who has empathy will show his/her sympathy and offers to do or does something like offering her children scholarship or something else.
It is important for us to show Empathy more because after the bad feeling, emotion or pain a positive help or action will go a long way in soothing the pain felt or experienced. When somebody is negatively affected by any circumstance/situation, don't just be like the professional wailers and cryers who just cry and go back home. Don't just sympathize with people that are in difficult situation, show them empathy because it is better and nicer to do so.
